The short version
- NextUp is yours to use on your own devices. NextUp Pro is a one-time purchase through Google Play, with no subscription.
- Reminders are best-effort. Android decides when an app may run, and it can delay or block a notification. Don't rely on NextUp as your only reminder for anything important.
- What you see comes from your calendars. NextUp shows what your calendar and Google Tasks hold, as Android syncs them. It can't be more accurate than they are.
- Your rights as a consumer are untouched. Nothing here takes away rights the law gives you.
1. Who we are and what this covers
These terms cover the NextUp Android app (package
com.nextup.calendarwidget), its home-screen widgets and notification
reminders, NextUp Pro, and the website nextup-widget.com. NextUp is
developed and published by Clockworks ("we", "us"). By installing or
using NextUp, you agree to these terms. How NextUp handles your data is described
separately, in the privacy policy.
2. Using NextUp
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use NextUp on devices you own or control, for your own use. You may not sell, rent or redistribute the app, remove its notices, or use it in a way that breaks the law or Google Play's rules. NextUp, its name, design and code remain ours.
3. NextUp Pro
- One purchase, no subscription. NextUp Pro is bought once, through Google Play, and is not renewed or charged again.
- Tied to your Google account. Pro follows the Google account you bought it with, and can be restored on another device signed in to that account.
- Payment and refunds are handled by Google Play, under its terms and refund policy. We never see your payment details.
- What it includes. Pro unlocks the features described in the app and on Google Play when you buy it. We may add, improve or rework features over time.
4. Reminders and widgets are best-effort
NextUp does its best to show every reminder at the moment you asked for, and to keep every widget up to date. But the phone, not NextUp, has the last word on when an app may run and what it may show. A reminder or a widget refresh can arrive late, or not at all, for example when:
- battery saving, or the phone maker's own power management, stops or delays the app;
- notifications, exact alarms or calendar access are turned off for NextUp;
- Do Not Disturb, a focus mode or a notification setting hides it;
- your calendar or Google Tasks hasn't synced a change to the phone yet;
- the phone is off, restarting, or out of storage, or the app has just been updated.
Please don't rely on NextUp as your only reminder for anything important, such as medication, travel, health, safety, work or legal deadlines. For those, keep a second reminder, for example your calendar app's own, or an alarm.
5. Google and your calendars
NextUp shows the calendars synced to your phone and, if you connect it, Google Tasks. Those services are run by their providers under their own terms, and we don't control whether they are available, accurate or up to date. If a calendar or Google Tasks shows something wrong, NextUp will show it too. Changes you make from NextUp, such as moving an event or ticking off a task, are made in your calendar through Android, or sent to Google, and follow your provider's rules from there: an event or task you delete is deleted in your calendar or Google Tasks too, and guests you add are invited by your calendar provider.
6. No warranty
To the extent the law allows, NextUp is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose, or that every reminder will be delivered on time.
7. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for loss caused by a missed, late or incorrect reminder, widget or calendar entry. Our total liability to you for anything related to NextUp is limited to the amount you paid for NextUp Pro, or nothing if you use NextUp for free.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for intent, gross negligence, or death or personal injury caused by negligence.
8. Your rights as a consumer
If you use NextUp as a consumer, you keep every right the law of your country gives you, and these terms don't limit them. Where a part of these terms can't apply under that law, the rest still does.
9. Changes and ending
We may update NextUp, and these terms, over time. The current terms always live at nextup-widget.com/terms, with the date they took effect at the top. If a change is significant, we will say so in the app or on Google Play before it takes effect. You can stop using NextUp at any time by uninstalling it, and we may stop offering it in the future.
